This female warrior is Lady Liang Hongyu. The name Hongyu means Red Jade and this is the name given to her in historical and cultural records.

 

Her early history is rather shrouded and it is believed that she began as a courtesan until she met her husband. However, she was well educated which deepens the mystery of her early years. She became a general in the Song army (Chinese) alongside her husband. She was a clever strategist, a loyal warrior and a loving wife and mother. She was tough and commanded deadly Tiger Ships (that shot flames, like Greek fire, but able to fire continuously) in battle.
